I got in an interesting argument with my fiance this weekend about posting information online. His point is that I shouldn't share personal information and that I should keep my feelings confined to the realm of my close friends and family. I, on the other hand, love sharing things about myself to the general public, one, in part because I don't think anyone really reads my blog, and two, because who cares what other people think?! I mean really, it doesn't matter to me if people know that we had an argument or two. We're only human and there we're bound to have a few more before the end of 50, or so, year marriage. Keith feels that I shouldn't open myself (or our relationship) up to public comment. Now, I'm asking how do you feel about it? Why are you a blogger? Because I said who cares what people think and then ask for your opinion, I am aware that I am being slightly contradictory.
On a separate note, I know that I said I would answer some reflection questions but I haven't had much time -- I went to a BBQ party to watch the Barcelona vs. Real Madrid soccer game yesterday and then came home and watched a season of Entourage. I don't usually watch T.V. but I just watched an episode and I'm hooked!! I rented the seasons and I'm going to catch myself up. So, If I get to the reflection questions later today, I'll post again but quite frankly, I feel like being lazy! :)

I feel that honesty is the best policy, however!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes or maybe more often then that, you should think twice before answering once. You don't have to lie, but you don't have to tell everything. Keep the mystery going.
Good luck with your blogging, i feel you have some talent for it. Blah! Blah! Blah!
Well, thank you very much for the advice, Gayle! :) I appreciate the encouragement... I completely agree that I should try to "keep some mystery." That's probably one of my biggest flaws, I tell everything!
ReplyDeleteGayle sent me your link - congrats on the blog! I started just a short time ago, too. If your fiance is concerned about what is posted about spouses, have him check out My Husband is Annoying http://myhusbandisannoying.com/ - which I find funny most of the time. He might think he's lucky, after seeing that site!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I'd like to post about, but won't, is in-law relations. The in-laws check the site now and then, and if I posted anything too personal - well, can you say "awkward"? I'd have to "guest" post somewhere else! HA HA HA Anyway - keep it up.
Blogging, for me, is a way to share opinions/thoughts/etc. that I can't share in a phone call because my sister is too busy, or my facebook status won't allow me enough space to ramble! Plus, it's fun to check comments and see who has visited and what their thoughts are, too!
Well, Kathy, you're much more brave than I am. I won't give anyone my blog address or name so that I don't have to answer questions or sensor my writing for family! :) If you need an outlet to post about your husband or anything else, feel free to comment on my posts -- I'm sure there will be plenty of "bashing" moments on my blog over the course of my writing adventure.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouragement and I will continue to write. I have gotten a few positive responses and I'm excited to share more. I will check out your blog as well.. it sounds as though we have a lot in common!
